In a couple of months, survival-horror fans will be able to playResident Evil Village(akaResident Evil 8), which will usher the long-running franchise into the next-generation. But whileResident Evil Villageisn’t even out yet, it seems as though Capcom may have already started development on the next mainline entry in theResident Evilseries,Resident Evil 9.

This is according to AestheticGamer, who has accurately leakedResident Evilnews in the past. They claim that Capcom has already started development onResident Evil 9, but that it’s unlikely the game will release before 2024. The game is so early in development that “it’s actually not worth even talking about right now” since the concept could change so drastically between now and when it’s actually revealed to the public.

WhileResident Evil 9may be a few years away, fans of the franchise should have plenty to look forward to. As previously mentioned,Resident Evil Villageis coming in May, and it will be launching alongside theResident Evil Re:Versemultiplayer experience. And while noResident Evilgames beyond that have been announced in an official capacity, leaks have pointed to some of Capcom’s future plans for the franchise.

According to various leaks, Capcom has anotherResident Evilgame launching in 2021. Apparently, aResident Evilgame for the Switch is going to launch at the end of the year, with the featured protagonist beingseries mainstay Rebecca Chambers. Whether or not this is true or not remains to be seen, but if the late 2021 release date is accurate, then fans of theResident Evilfranchise should get some answers sooner rather than later.

Meanwhile, other leaks have suggested that a newResident Evilgame is coming in 2022 as well. If the rumors are to be believed, that game is none other than theResident Evil 4remake. However, it’s also been suggested that there have been some creative disagreements on theResident Evil 4remakebehind the scenes that have potentially pushed the game’s release date to 2023 instead of 2022. But since the game hasn’t even been announced yet, it’s hard to say one way or the other.

TheResident Evilfranchiseis one of Capcom’s biggest money-makers, and so fans can expect new games in the series to release on a regular basis for years to come.Resident Evil 9has always been an inevitability, though fans should worry aboutResident Evil Village,Re:Verse, and the rumoredResident EvilSwitch game first.
