One thing that cannot be denied about theResident Evilgames is the number of memorable enemies and bosses they have, and some fans have been talking about which ones in particular they find the scariest. Being one of themost iconic entries in survival horror, Capcom’s flagship series continues to dominate the genre. Although there was a period when the franchise seemed to have lost touch with its roots, many would agree that things have been back on track for the past few years.

As well as being genre defining, there are plenty ofterrifying moments in theResident Evilgames. From that first encounter with a Licker in the second installment to taking on the fully mutated form of Jack Baker in the 2017 reboot, there are many examples when players almost jump out of their skin. It’s partly what makes the series so beloved. While the older games go for a more B-movie approach to the story and dialog, they were still horror games responsible for frightening fans. In light of such iconic monsters, some people have decided to find out which ones scare players the most.

As reported by The Gamer, a recent thread over on Reddit poses the question of whichResident Evilenemy is the most terrifying. The person who started the thread, MEI_K8, offered up a few examples, and hundreds of comments have given some idea of the kinds ofREcreatures that keep some players up at night. There have been a few mentions of the Regenerator and Crimson Heads, with others saying that the Hunter is one of the scariest. Given that MEI_K8 asked people to choose between a few select enemies, there’s no mention of any of the bosses, not evenRE2Remake’s Mr. X. And of course, no one seems terribly frightened byVillage’s Lady Dimitrescu.

It’s not surprising that the Regenerators and Crimson Heads appear in the discussion frequently.Resident Evil 4’s Regenerator is quite iconic, with the ability to regenerate itself, hence the name, making it a very formidable foe. The latter enemies, for those who aren’t aware, are a mutated form of a regular zombie that’s come back to life. When they reanimate, they take on the form of the Crimson Head, which is a faster and more deadly enemy than its previous form, making them way scarier, especially when they can be seen chasing the player down.

With theremake ofResident Evil 4due out soon, not to mention the success of the series reboot, Capcom’s horror franchise is at the top of its game. It may have hit a rough spot with the more action-orientated fifth and sixth installments, but the developer going back to what madeResident Evilso special in the first place was definitely a good move.
