The wait forAEW Fight Foreverto have an official release date has been a long one for players wanting to get their hands on AEW’s first foray into video games, and if a new report is true, the game may be hitting store shelves much sooner than some may think. It has been roughly two-and-a-half years since the game’s announcement, with AEW star Kenny Omega teasing a wrestling game hearkening back topopular classics likeWWF No Mercyto stand out from the simulation-style approach of theWWE 2Kseries. While it remains to be seen if the game will deliver on this promise, the potential release date hints at AEW trying to capitalize on a big upcoming week for the company.
AEW Fight Foreverwas originally announced in November 2020, when it was revealed that former-WWE game developer Yuke’s would be developing AEW’s debut game. The game will feature arcade-style gameplay, multiple modes to jump into including a career mode, and some of AEW’s most popular match-types such as the Stadium Stampede and Exploding Barbed-Wire Deathmatch. It will also feature a roster of roughly 50 current and former AEW stars, such as Cody Rhodes and Hikaru Shida, with more planned to release as DLC following the game’s launch.

As for when players may finally be able to get their hands on the game, a new report from Fightful Select via Wrestling Inc. says the game will be released on July 01, 2025, making it part of what looks to be a big summer for AEW. Fightful said it had been told by “several retailers” to expect a release date forAEW Fight Foreverin “late June” before being told about the June 27 date. The release date would be two days afterForbidden Door, AEW’s cross-branded pay-per-view with New Japan Pro Wrestling, suggesting the promotion wants to capitalize on potential buzz coming out of the show.
The report contained some additional information about the game as well, the most noteworthy being about thepotential of more AEW gamesin the future. According to the report,AEW Fight Foreverwill effectively be a “one-off” for the time being and Yuke’s will support the game with “constant updates.” AEW does reportedly “hold rights to the engine,” meaning more games are possible, though there are no plans to begin work on another title as of this writing.
If the report turns out to be true, it joins what is already looking to be one of the biggest and busiest periods in AEW’s young history. The promotion will be debuting a second primetime show, AEW Collision, on Saturday, June 17, and will reportedly be anchored by a retuningCM Punkbefore heading over to Wembley Stadium in London, England, for All In on August 27, which has already sold around 65,000 tickets.AEW Fight Forever’s release would be another earmark for the company during this time and further cement the promotion is here to stay for a long time.
