Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warfans may be getting a major disappointment in the form of a very popular feature reportedly not making its way to the game. The prestige system that so many fans love is not coming to the newestCall of Duty, according to an insider source.

Fans are seeing a lot of changes to the franchise announced forCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, but while some leaks are talking about exciting potential features likeCall of Dutymultiplayer updates, this particular leak is a big disappointment to those who love grinding the game with help from Treyarch’s prestige system, which Infinity Ward chose to completely change inModern Warfare.

TheMW2Ghost, aCall of Dutyinsider, stated that Treyarch is looking to take after Infinity Ward and go forward withBlack Ops Cold Warnixing the prestige system. The leaker’s Twitter account posted that prestige is “likely not returning” as most of theCall of Dutydevsare actually favoring the Season Rank system players can see inModern Warfare. The account claims this info comes from a “main source” who’s provided other details that proved to be true in the past.

And TheMW2Ghost isn’t the only insider saying this, asModern Warfareleaker ModernWarzone backs this claim up on their own Twitter account. ModernWarzone backs up the other leaker’s claims that prestige is unlikely to come toBlack Ops Cold War, but makes the important addendum that there are still two months left until the release date and plans change all the time. After all, players were told not to expect theDead Silence perk inBlack Ops Cold War, and yet official sources are recently reversing on this claim.

Prestige mode has long been a staple of the series, having shown up in twelve mainline titles, so it makes sense why fans would be upset that it may not come back. TheModern Warfareprestigechange was highly unpopular in the fan community, and many fans vastly prefer prestige over the seasonal ranks, which stands in contrast to what these leakers are saying the devs prefer.

Whether Treyarch does choose to follow in Infinity Ward’s footsteps and axe a popular feature is still unknown, as this is just a rumor and no official sources have spoken out about this yet, probably because it’s still up in the air.Black Ops Cold Warbrings a lot to be excited about, but also some concerning factors like the new engine and how it will place in theBlack Opsseries. As always, the only way for players to truly judge the game will be to play out these features and content themselves.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warwill be available November 13th on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox one. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X upgrades will also be available.
