It is that exact song that some fans are now suspecting couldmake an appearance inGrand Theft Auto 6, with the ongoing speculation rising after Anita Ward’s verified Spotify page updated its cover artwork to display the upcoming game’s logo. The change is said to have occurred in the second half of February, having initially been spotted by Reddit userAlilBitTall. Although theGTA 6logo only appeared on the artist’s channel instead of being attached to any particular track, the fact thatRing My Bellis synonymous with Anita Ward and gives off strong ’80s Miami vibes led many fans to conclude that if there’s one song of hers to make it into the game, this will be it.
Ring My Bellwas already featured inGTA: San Andreas, with players being able to hear it when they tuned in to the K-JAH West radio station. However, that particular track wasn’t the famous disco hit by Ward, but a much more obscure reggae rendition by Blood Sisters. Both were released in 1979, but only Ward’s song went on to become a global hit. Rockstar didn’t even license the other version for its 2021 rerelease of the game, leaving Blood Sisters’Ring My Belloutside the scope of theGTA: San Andreas - Definitive Editiontrack list.
WhetherGTA 6ends up featuring the more famous version of the song or any other one of Ward’s hits remains to be seen. The newly emerged Spotify cover does appear to hint that the legendary singer is involved in the game at some level, as it’s unlikely that her label would just decide to use the logo of Rockstar’s much-anticipated title without permission, which could have legal implications.
Some fans went as far as to speculate that Ward’sRing My Bellmay end up being featured in the secondGTA 6trailer, arguing that the song would be a perfect fit for it. Regardless of those theories' veracity, the likelihood of Rockstar dropping another trailer anytime soon appears slim, as the developer historically took around a year to share second looks at its upcomingGrand Theft Autogames. In the meantime, Ward’s Spotify channel currently appears to be enjoying a massive,GTA 6-induced spike in popularity, having jumped from 615,000 monthly listeners in late January to over 745,000 as of February 24.
