Those who are keen to combine fantasy role-playing with fighting hordes of zombies may be interested to know that there’s a new mod forSkyrimthat turns the game into something that would fit right into an episode ofThe Walking Dead. After more than 11 years,The Elder Scrolls 5still has lots to offer, whether it’s secrets that have eluded players for over a decade or the modding community continuing to put out custom content.
It’s also interesting to see thatzombie games are still all the rage, from the remakes of classicResident Evilgames to a new entry in theDead Islandfranchise. Of course,Skyrimis no horror game, though it does have its fair share of undead creatures. Bethesda’s 2011 epic RPG doesn’t put much emphasis on zombies, which seems odd seeing as previous installments in theTESfranchise have featured them more prominently. Luckily, there is a way for fans to get their kicks when it comes to battling these shambling corpses.

Over on Nexus Mods, user Wyrmspleen has created “The Walking Dead Zombie Apocalypse,” a mod forSkyrimthat takes cues from the post-apocalyptic TV show of the same name. Working off the Creation Club project “Plague of the Dead,” which adds a zombie quest to the game, players can now see what it’s like to take on hordes of the undead across this cold slice of Tamriel. Wyrmspleen says that their modification is “lore friendly” and “100% immersive.” Zombies can attack in groups, even taking on guards and soldiers, and they are also said to be a good source of Mort Flesh for anyone who’s playing an alchemist character.
Over a long period of time, the fan base has unleashed plenty ofamazing mods forSkyrim, some of which have turned the game into a different beast entirely, while others have sought to improve the experience. It’s a testament to the modding community thatTES5is still going strong, offering up new ways to play or keeping the aging RPG looking fresh with better graphics and bug fixes.
WhileThe Elder Scrolls 6is currently in development, there’s no way of telling when it will actually release. As such, no one can be certain whether the next entry in Bethesda’s iconic series will enjoy as much longevity asSkyrim. For now, the 11-year-old title is still getting a lot of love and attention, which is just one of the reasons why it remains in the AAA gaming limelight.
