Of course, this strategy only adds to the wait times for players who choose to log-in the proper way. To solve this issue, manyHelldivers 2fans are calling for Arrowhead Game Studios to implement some sort of AFK auto-kick feature. Arrowhead CEO Johan Pilestedt acknowledged fans' requests by stating that he’s already brought up the potential feature with theHelldivers 2development team. While it’s possible that the team is already working on such a feature, a timeline for its release is not yet known.
It’s not particularly surprising thatHelldivers 2is running into server issues after masses of gamers flocked to the game. Over the weekend,Helldivers 2overtookCall of DutyandFortniteby becoming PlayStation’s most-played game. And over on Steam,Helldivers 2again broke its concurrent player peak by reaching over 409,000 users on February 18. Pilestedt recently explained that the game’s absolute limit is 500,000 concurrent users before it starts to break down, so the combined Steam and PlayStation numbers are likely leading to a significant portion of fans being forced to wait in a queue.
Fans Hope For a Helldivers 2 Xbox Release
As for Xbox, Microsoft Gaming CEOPhil Spencer recently shared his thoughts onHelldivers 2by saying that he’s “not exactly sure who it helps” by keeping the game a PlayStation console exclusive. While it seems unlikely that an Xbox release is coming anytime soon, fans have done their best to sway that outcome.
Apetition forHelldivers 2to be released on Xboxhas taken off, reaching over 30,000 signatures in about five days. But unfortunately, it seems unlikely that the petition will sway Sony’s strategy.
