The streaming series adaptation ofTwisted Metalcontinues to move right ahead and now has another one of its stars on board. While theTwisted Metalgame is likely getting a reboot, Peacock is also putting together a series based on the original game and just added actress Stephanie Beatriz to the cast.
TheBrooklyn Nine-Ninestar has been having a resurgence in her career since the Fox comedy series came to an end. After starring as a hard-boiled detective with the heart of gold in the police-procedural comedy, she took on the role of Mirabel inEncanto. Now she’s joined the growing cast list of theTwisted Metalseries that had previously announcedAnthony Mackie as one of its big stars.

According toDeadline, Beatriz will play the character of Quiet, a ferocious car thief who acts purely on instinct. Her character is said to be unstoppable in the same way that a manhole cover can’t stop a volcano. Among the ways she can’t be stopped is when she’s looking to get revenge on the community that forced her into silence. It’s during this vendetta that she meets and teams up withthe mysterious John Doe.
Mackie is taking on the role of Doe inTwisted Metal.His character is said to be a “motor-mouthed” outsider who is trying to find redemption by delivering a package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Alongside the car thief that is Quiet, the pair will have to make their way across that landscape while facing marauders in dangerous vehicles that are all out to kill them.
In addition to Mackie and Beatriz, the show has addedCobra Kaiwriter Michael Jonathan Smith as well asKitao Sakurai as the series' director. Sakurai has previously helmed some popular comedy series, includingThe Eric Andre ShowandBad Trip. He’s also directed two episodes of the FX comedy seriesDaveand one episode of BJ Novak’sThe Premise.
Things have been moving rather quickly for theTwisted Metalseries since it was confirmedto be coming to Peacock. While Mackie was one of the first who was attached to the project, additions have been getting made since the beginning of this year, including naming where the series was going to land. The series is just the latest when it comes to video game adaptations coming to streaming services. TheFalloutadaptation is coming to Amazon Prime, and HBO is also putting together a live-action adaptation ofThe Last of Us.
