The crew frequently interacts with fans on the “Stranger Writers” Twitter account. Recently, they took to social media urging fans to vote for Kate Bush’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (Bush’s “Running Up That Hill” was famously featured inStranger Thingsseason 4). A fan quickly quipped that there should be a vote for a physical release of the latestStranger Thingsseasons, to which the writers responded, “Working on it.”
Stranger Thingswill soon begin shooting its final season. StarNoah Schnapp recently confirmed he starts shootingStranger Thingsseason 5 this May, meaning the production is likely eyeing a 2024 release date. Fans are used to waiting, considering the gap between season 3 and season 4 was just shy of three years, though this was due to pandemic-related concerns. It’s likely that season 5, and a possible physical release, won’t take as long as that.
Schnapp also confirmed that Will is a major fixture inStranger Thingsseason 5, going so far as to say that the show started with Will and would end with Will. These tidbits are tantalizing information for fans. Though they’re used to such long waits between seasons, a trickle of information keepsStranger Thingsin the headlines during its off-season.
A physical release would tide fans over before season 5 finally airs. Given thatStranger Thingscould be called one ofthe most captivating thrillers from the 2010s, the series deserves a physical release. Streamers and digital services don’t last forever and don’t work without an internet connection. Fans should be able to own a copy of the series, one they can carry with them even if their Netflix subscription isn’t up to date or if their connection is spotty.
