Despite the scales not matchingthe villain most expected forSuicide SquadDLC, one name from across the DC canon sticks out as a possible candidate. Libra, a Justice League antagonist, has a pretty good shot at fitting this bill. Not only does he have the scales emblazoned across his chest, but the concept of balance is central to his identity. In fact, he inspired the aforementioned Equinox. The blue-and-orange supervillain is not one recognized by most casual audiences and may even elude the most hardcore of fans, but there’s a great deal of detail behind his origin and appearances that would give anyone playing him a rich experience.

Who is Libra?

Before Libra, there was Justin Ballantine, a young boy whose mother had died after a pharmaceutical mishap. Left with only his abusive father, he saved up money for a telescope to lose himself stargazing. When his father found him looking through the telescope one night, the man threatened to beat him with the telescope. In his rage, Justin’s father lost his balance and fell off the roof to his death. The boy sat looking at the corpse, becoming instilled with the idea that life was a matter of balance. This spurred his efforts to become a god and impart his idea of balance on the universe, adopting the identity of Libra and becoming a servant of Darkseid. He’s one of themore out-there picksSuicide Squadcould go with, but no doubt one with significance in DC lore.

As far as potential abilities go, Libra has a lot to bring toSuicide Squad’s table. Across his numerous iterations, he’s had basic super-strength, super-durability, and some incredible smarts. That’s only scratching the surface, though. With his lofty aspirations, Libra’s got his hands on some incredible abilities:

Reasons For And Against The Possibility Of Libra’s Inclusion

Libra might seem beyond obscure for a role in such a major title, but he actually has as good of a chance as anyone else on that front.Suicide Squadhas already teased some obscure names, including Dr. Poison, Dr. Sivana, Merlyn, and more. It looks like Rocksteady is planning for a good deal of niche references to antagonists from all over DC and its numerous IPs.

However, his allegiance to Darkseid makes his role as a playable character somewhat questionable. In a game where villains put aside their differences to fight the greater threat of Brainiac, it’s dubious whether someone working for a villain as destructive as Darkseid would be a lesser evil. As more and more details areconfirmed aboutSuicide Squad: Kill The Justice League, it’s likely the identity of every leaked character will be confirmed before long.
