TheSuper Smash Bros. Ultimatemodding community recently brought a very special and iconic character to the game, which is good news given the fact that Sora is the last character official character Nintendo will be giving theSuper Smash Bros.invitation to.
As a result of the game’s DLC run coming to an end, many characters that fans wanted will not be entering the battlefield anytime soon. Fortunately, players are using mods as a way to add their favorite mascot toSuper Smash Bros. Ultimatethemselves, and Crash Bandicoot is the latest character that modders have made playable.

TheCrash Bandicootmod is originally from creator Mastaklo, but the latest mod from S77 overhauls the character with a suite of upgrades. For instance, Crash now has his own set of unique moves based on the series, such as an Aku Aku attack. Crash’s visual appearance receives upgraded textures, and now he has unique animations for his idle stance and running. He even has his own victory screen with a customSmash-like announcer. With the addition of this new character, S77 also took the time to create a hat specifically for Kirby when he uses his copy ability on him.
Crash Bandicoot is an Activision-owned character that players have been requesting fortheSuper Smash Bros.seriesfor years. Thankfully, S77 went out of the way to bring him intoSuper Smash Bros. Ultimateas faithfully as the mod tools could allow. The modding community for the series doesn’t just make custom characters, though. This subsection of the Smash Bros. fan base also creates mods that help players in the competitive scene practice and understand the intricacies of the game. Two examples of this are the20XXand Project Slippi mods for the 2001 GameCube hitSuper Smash Bros. Melee.
While S77 took the time to craft Crash’s appearance and moveset, he mainly uses the kit of another character in the game:Dr. Mario. From the character’s weight to his special attacks, Crash shares many similarities to Dr. Mario. For instance, instead of throwing a pill at opponents, Crash will throw his signature apples. Thus, players will find that the modded character feels right at home as part of the game’s massive roster.
Despite sharing many characteristics with Dr. Mario, S77 put so much effort into the mod that Crash does not feel out of place whatsoever. Fans of theCrash Bandicootserieswill find this mod to be a delightful experience and an enhancement of an already mighty fighting game.
