In a recent interview withThe Acolytecast, Jake Hamilton posed several interesting questions about the show. At the end of the interview, he asked Amandla Stenberg and Manny Jacinto, “What is something that another cast member on this show got to do that you’re a little jealous of, that you didn’t get to experience in theStar Warsworld?” The question took everyone by surprise. Jacinto, glancing at Stenberg, responded, “For me, taking on the challenge of playing twins,” thereby confirming a significant fan theory.

For some time now, fans have been speculating thatthere might be more to Stenberg’s character, Mae, than previously revealed. Back whenThe Acolytewas filming, rumors began circulating that Stenberg would be portraying identical twins — one a Jedi and one a Sith Acolyte. These rumors also suggested that Jacinto’s character, Qimir, might be connected to this intriguing plot twist. This speculation was further amplified bythe recent trailer, where fans noticed subtle differences in her character, hinting at the possibility of a twin. Additionally, a newly released poster showed two images of Mae, prompting discussions about whether it was Mae and someone else. However, no one could definitively confirm the truth behind these theories. The long-standing fan theory has now been confirmed: Mae has a twin named Osha. Jacinto went on to explain that Stenberg’s performance was so impressive that he wished to take on a similar challenge in his career. Hamilton also praised her portrayal, admitting that he was initially confused, thinking Stenberg might actually have a real-life twin.

Fans are already developing new theoriesabout what might have happened to the twins. Stenberg described the twins as having been “separated by tragedy when they were very young.” Osha joined the Jedi Order and studied under Master Sol, but she left due to internal turmoil, unable to connect with the Force “in the way that maybe she was destined to,” Stenberg explained. Mae, whom everyone thought was dead, is actually alive and causing chaos. Stenberg confirmed that the twins are aligned with different sides of the Force, but it remains to be seen who is on the Light side and who is on the Dark side. In a new twist forThe Acolyte, Mae was listed without a surname until now, when it was changed to Mae Aniseya. Previously, it was revealed that Jodie Turner-Smith is playinga new character named Mother Aniseya. This has led fans to speculate whether she is actually the twins' mother or connected to them in another way. Fans are eagerly awaiting to see whatThe Acolytehas in store for them.

The first two episodes ofStar Wars: The Acolytewill premiere on June 4, exclusively on Disney Plus.
