Although the basics of theLEGOgame formula stays the same, the licensedLEGOfranchise is always trying new ideas. For instance, theLEGO Harry Pottergamesinvented a clever spell wheel that resulted in gameplay feeling totally different from otherLEGOgames. Another title that wants to push limits and reinvent gameplay isLEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. The upcoming title is famously trying to rewrite the script when it comes toLEGOcombat, and fans will have more levels than ever to get a feel for the third-person shooting and enhanced lightsaber fights. There’s a lot of changes coming toLEGO Star Warsto be excited about.
While an expansive overworld isn’t a new idea forLEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Sagato tackle,it seems to be pushing the limits on what’s possible. PreviousLEGOgames let players visit planets in the DC Universe or roam freely around Hogwarts, but inThe Skywalker Saga, there’s a staggering amount of planets getting hubs that players can visit and explore. Each planet plays an important role in some part of the nine centralStar Warsmovies, which meansThe Skywalker Sagais practically a museum ofStar Warshistory that players can run around in, destroy, and then build back up again.

LEGO Star Wars: Prequel Trilogy Planets
The Skywalker Sagawouldn’t be complete without the likes of Naboo and Coruscant. Naboo is the home planet of Padme Amidala, who represents Naboo as its senator and serves asAnakin Skywalker’s ally and love interestthroughout the prequel trilogy. Much ofThe Phantom Menacetakes place on Naboo, as the planet’s humans and Gungans fight the rising Separatist droid army. Coruscant, meanwhile, is the ecumenopolis that serves as the hub of the prequel trilogy. This planet-sized city is home to both the Jedi Order and the government of the galaxy’s Republic, making it central to the prequel trilogy’s political drama.
Star Wars Episode 2: Attack of the Clonesintroduces Kamino and Geonosis. Kamino is a water planet where the movie’s titular clones are created to serve the Republic;Obi-Wan Kenobi travels hereand meets the clones as well as bounty hunter Jango Fett. Geonosis takes up the third act ofAttack of the Clonesand is parallel to Kamino because the Geonosians are major producers of droids for the Separatists. This is where Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker finally challenge the Sith lord Count Dooku.

The Skywalker Sagapicks up a few more planets fromRevenge of the Sith, including Kashyyyk, which is the home of the Wookies first established by Chewbacca in the originalStar Warstrilogy. Some newer planets introduced by this movie are Utapau and Mustafar. Utapau is a barren, sinkhole-covered mining planet where Obi-Wan Kenobi defeats Separatist leader General Grievous. Mustafar, meanwhile, is a volcanic world where Obi-Wan and Anakin duel afterAnakin turns to the Sith and becomes Darth Vader. Naboo, Coruscant, Kamino, Geonosis, Utapau, Kashyyyk, and Mustafar are all overworld planets inLEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, and there’s many more beyond that.
LEGO Star Wars: Original Trilogy Planets
Tatooine is one of the most important planets that comes from the originalStar Warstrilogy. Although it appears in the prequel trilogy as well, it’s been inStar Warsfrom the very beginning as the first planet viewers visit. It’s the home of both Anakin and Luke Skywalker, it’s where Luke met Han Solo and Obi-Wan Kenobi, it’s where Luke and his friends battled Jabba the Hutt, and more. Naturally,it can be visited inThe Skywalker Saga.Players can also travel to Yavin 4, the moon which holds the Rebel base from which the Rebellion plots to destroy the Death Star.

The Empire Strikes Backcontributes Hoth, Dagobah, and Bespin toLEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga’s overworld. The icy Hoth housed a Rebel base until the Empire pushed them out. Luke Skywalker then traveled to Dagobah, a desolate swamp planet where he trained with Jedi Master Yoda after Obi-Wan’s death. Meanwhile, Leia Organa and Han Solo traveled to Bespin, a gas planet that housed Cloud City: a floating city and gas mining operation run byHan’s old friend Lando Calrissian. The onlySkywalker Sagaoverworld added byReturn of the Jediis the lush forest moon of Endor, but the plucky Ewoks that live there and the Battle of Endor waged to defeat the Empire once and for all speak for its value as a majorStar Warsplanet.
LEGO Star Wars: Sequel Trilogy Planets
Although the previous sixStar Warsmovies visited plenty of worlds, the sequel trilogy contributes a ton of locations to theSkywalker Sagamap. Jakku, Takodana, D’Qar, Starkiller Base, and Ahch-To all first appear inThe Force Awakens, and they’re inTheSkywalker Saga.Jakku is a harsh desert planet like Tatooine that Rey once called home, whereas Takodana is the forest world where Rey and company meet the 1,000 year old Maz Kanata, who provides them valuable information before Kylo Ren attacks Maz’s castle. D’Qar is Leia Organa and the Resistance’s hub of operation inThe Force Awakens, and from there the Rebels attack Starkiller Base, a kyber-rich First Order planet-turned-superweaponwhere Rey and Kylo Ren duelbefore it is destroyed.
Ahch-Toonly appears briefly inThe Force Awakens, but it’s very important inThe Last Jedi. This is the ocean planet where Luke Skywalker hides from the galaxy’s conflicts; eventually he agrees to oversee Rey’s Jedi training on Ahch-To.The Last Jedicontributes Cantonica and Crait toThe Skywalker Sagatoo. Cantonica is a dry world home to Canto Bight, a gambler’s city where Finn and Rose secretly seek help for the Resistance. The Last Jedi’s climax takes place on Crait, a red-soiled and mineral-rich planet covered in salt. Rey reunites with the Resistance on Crait.

The Rise of Skywalker, the ninth and final movie in the centralStar Warssaga to date, adds quite a few more planets too. There’s Ajan Kloss, the jungle planet that becomes the Resistance’s new headquarters; and there’s Pasaana, a desert world which Rey and company travel to in search of clues for overthrowing the First Order. The snowy, rocky, and seedy world of Kijimi offers insights into Poe Dameron’s backstory before it’s destroyed by the First Order. Kef Bir, another moon of Endor, houses some wreckage of the Second Death Star and contains the information that Rey is questing for. Most important of all,The Rise of Skywalkercontributesthe distant malevolent world of Exegol, a barren wasteland with a deep connection to the Sith that serves as the stage for the ending of theStar Warssequel trilogy.
The Skywalker Saga Bursts at the Seams
It’s crazy to imagine how many settings Traveller’s Tales packed intoThe Skywalker Saga.Fans have yet to see the final version of the game, so it’s hard to say how much they can see of each of these worlds. However, sinceThe Skywalker Sagaappears determined to go big or go home, there will probably be some sizeable slices of each planet that encourage exploration and perhaps offer collectibles. No matter what the final result looks like, this overworld initiative will set a new standard forLEGO Star Warsgames. Part of the magic of theStar Warsuniverse is the diverse range of worlds that fans encounter, andThe Skywalker Sagais poised to let fans explorethose games like few other games have.
LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Sagais in development for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
