Sadly, her father, Rollo, learns that his family is struggling financially. To remedy this, he insists onwedding Catherine to a wealthy suitorfrom whom he can secure the necessary funds to regain his financial footing.
Bella Ramsey’s performance as Catherine (also known as Birdy) is truly captivating in that it offers a much morecharming depiction of Medieval England. The movie itself functions as a comedy, while also offering viewers a few serious themes that are suited to the time period the movie is set in. Catherine was already a lovable character, but it was Bella Ramsey’s performance as her that made her feel so endearing.
