The female ensemble comes together because their powers become entangled. Aside from these boilerplate details, Marvel Studios has kept its cards close to the chest. One of these Captain Marvels differs from the rest. Credited as Princess Carol, the toy has styled hair and an ornate dress – a visual difference from what fans have come to expect from the high-powered defender of the galaxy.
Carol’s new moniker could indicate a special connection to thenew character played by Park Seo-joon. Credited as Prince Yan, the character has a history with Carol in the comics. Hailing from the planet, Aladna, the prince became embroiled in a complex marriage plot. The custom of the planet is that women are allowed to choose their spouses, whether they consent or not. Carol became involved when Lila Cheney asked her to help stop her imminent wedding to Prince Yan. The arc ended with a happy ever after and Yan discontinuing the custom on the planet. But judging from toy’s official name, Carol’s storyline inThe Marvelsmay have a twist.
Since Prince Yan is slated to appear in the film and Carol is named princess, it’s a short leap to make to assume that Captain Marvel will be the bride in this scenario. There’s no telling where they could end up because of the wild shenanigans of swapping powers and hints thatThe Marvelswill explore some heavy themes. Carol could land on another planet and find herself engaged to a prince with no opportunity to escape. Since Marvel Studios introduced space travel into the universe, stories have become more inventive. Leaning more into the absurd in recent years, it wouldn’t be outside the realm of possibility for Carol to find herself in over her head. WhenThe Marvelsairs, fans know how absurd the feature will get.
