Summary
The inhabitants of the fantasy worlds ofDungeons & Dragonsare no strangers to weird and unique weapons. There are hundreds of different melee and ranged weapons to use inBaldur’s Gate 3,giving players huge amounts of freedom when it comes to how they battle their enemies.
However, the world is also home to some of the most ridiculous and unwieldy weapons that players can get their hands on. From clubs that are 3 times the size ofthe average Githyankito a literal sausage, it goes to show that, with the right mindset, players can battle the realms with even the most impractical weapons.

8Shattered Flail
Reason: Flimsy
One of the main reasons why this weapon is impractical is its design. The way the bones are tied together suggests that it could fall apart at any moment. Not to mention the fact that it’s already shattered, weakening it even more.
It also seems quite useless in battle. Yes, one could easily club someone over the head with it. In a fight against a blade, however, this item would most likely disadvantage the user. Considering its fragility, it’s unlikely that this flail would provide any good defense either.

7Torch
Reason: Not Very Effective
These shabby torches prove both unreliable and weak during combat. A fighter could get one good blow out of this weapon before it snaps in half, leaving them vulnerable and weaponless.
There is potential for this weapon to be helpful when lit, perhaps setting a few enemies on fire, but it’s certainly not great in the long run, and won’t get players very far in the game.

6Blood of Lathander
Reason: Too Bright
While this is a Legendary mace with some great magical abilities and strength, it does appear quite impractical in terms of stealth and keeping a low profile. The main concern is the fact that it consistently glows withthe radiance of the sun, even when it isn’t in use. For parties trying to hide or launch an ambush, this weapon would easily give away their position.
It could be useful during melee combat, distracting enemies and potentially blinding them. However, it would make its wielder an easy target for ranged attacks.

5Balduran Giantslayer
Reason: Difficult To Wield
While this isn’t the biggest weapon on the list, it’s still huge in proportion to most wielders. The pommel is nearly the length of an arm, and the blade itself is huge. Not only would the wielder have to be equally as big to use it effectively, but they’d also have to be incredibly strong.
For most characters and companions, this sword would be incredibly difficult to use and consistently throw the user off balance.

4Silver Sword Of The Astral Plane
Reason: Way Too Long
The sword itself isas tall as a Githyanki, looking quite impressive when strapped to one’s back. The weapon would be difficult to wield, requiring special strength and training for a blade of that length.
It would also prove to be highly impractical when traveling and traversing difficult landscapes, as its length would consistently get in the way, getting snagger on rocks, trees, and tight spaces on the regular.

3Watcher Greatsword
Reason: Way Too Big
Considering how this sword is madefor giant Steel Watchers,it’s highly unlikely that a normal character could effectively use this weapon. It’s absolutely massive and incredibly heavy, packing an impressive 8-41 damage.
The sword is actually only supposed to bewielded by Watchers, suggesting that players' being able to equip it could be a bug. Regardless, players have been enjoying making the most of this ridiculously big weapon.

2Minotaur Greatclub
Reason: Comically Large
This ridiculous-looking Greatclub is completely impractical in every way. It’s the size of a small tree and most likely weighs as much as one, too. Any character, even one strong enough to pick this up, would struggle to use it effectively.
When wielded by its owner, the Minotaur in the Underdark,it’s lethal. However, it’s unlikely that most adventurers would even be able to lift this club, let alone carry it around and fight with it.

The ability to wield this weapon turned out to be a glitch and was fixed in patch 5!
1Salami
Reason: It’s Literally A Sausage
Technically considered a club, this food item can be used to whack and smack one’s way through the realm. Unfortunately, it deals a very small amount of damage (1-4). It’s extremely impractical as it stands no chance against other weapons and would easily be broken by a sword or shield. If, somehow, the wielder didn’t break it during active combat, it would eventually decay and fall apart anyway. At least playerscan always buy another one!
Despite this, some players have dedicated themselves to doing an entire playthrough of the game using only this weapon. It’s pretty impressive, and further reinforces the level of creativity available to players in the game.
