Elden Ringis right around the corner now, as the game is set to release in just over 2 weeks.Elden Ring’s creator Hidetaka Miyazaki has been drip-feeding fans small details about the game for the last 2 months such as a recent reveal from theElden RingTwitter page unveiling the concept art for some of its classes. Now, thanks to interviews, Miyazaki has revealed the amount of effort it took FromSoftware to design the game’s world.
In a recent interview with Edge Magazine, Miyazaki acknowledged that the reason forElden Ring’s delay was owing to the company getting to grips with open-world game design. Miyazaki stated that the level of freedom that FromSoftware originally hoped to achieve ended up taking more time to implement than expected. Miyazaki went on to note thatElden Ringbecame gradually more complex over time, and therefore more time and effort was needed to debug and check the quality of the game.

According to Miyazaki, making the FromSoftware formula work on a larger scale was difficult, as the company had to focus on the rhythm and flow of the game to keep players from getting bored. In the first 3Dark Soulsgames there was very little about the world that was not directly designed with some form of human input, whereas withElden Ringaround 80% of the vegetation was procedurally generated.
Miyazaki has been very vocal about the game lately, as he even mentioned that manyFromSoftware Easter eggs will make an appearance inElden Ring. Fan-favorite NPC Patches will make a return inElden Ring, and will most likely try and kill the player’s character as he has done in nearly every otherSoulsgame he has appeared in thus far. The moonlight greatsword will also be included inElden Ringalong with a few other mainstay weapons from theSoulsseries.
Poison swamps will also make an appearance inElden Ring. Miyazaki mentioned that he just can’t stop himself from implementing poison swamps into his games, which is whyElden Ringis said to have more than one.Elden Ringwill also introduce a new effect called Scarlet Rot to go alongside poison and toxicity.
Recently,Miyazaki also revealed his favorite FromSoftware bossof all time. Miyazaki noted that his favorite boss is The Old Monk from the originalDemon’sSoulsas he mentioned how proud he was that the boss was so different from any other boss in the series.
