Burger King had arguably some of the greatest Kid’s Meal toys of the 90’s. There was the time that they had Pokémon toys, as well as special shiny pokeballs with gold plated cards inside of them. They even had classic Nicktoons like Rugrats, CatDog, and more as part oftheir stable of incredible offeringsfor kids alongside their burgers. There was also a time when the regal family behind the burgers decided it would be beneficial to also bring in the characters ofDragonball Zas a set of kid’s meal toys. These toys were well above a power level of 9,000, however they left out a number of important characters to the series to provide customers with the chance to get one of the more prominent characters in the series.
Characters like Yamcha, Tien, and more seem toalways get the short end of the stickwhen it comes to toy representation. Goku tends to get the most representation, with toys of both his regular form as well as his Super Saiyan forms. It seems like a bit of a missed opportunity here though, as there are plenty of characters waiting to to get their due. Just like with the toys surrounding this series. the show also tends to underrate this particular set of characters. Here are some of the top Dragon Ball characters that are underrated and deserve a more significant storyline within the series.

Mr. Popo
Mr. Popo doesn’t get nearly the respect he deserves. As a member of the staff working aboard Kami’s lookout, not only does Mr. Popo have a more interesting back story than most characters in this industry, he’s alsofar more powerful than the series would like to imply.
For starters. Mr. Popo is actually a Genie. He’s even faced off against Goku in the past and has never lost in battle to him. It seems a bit odd then that considering his level of knowledge surrounding the universe as well as his power level that he wouldn’t have taken on a larger role in the many epic battles facing the Earth throughout the series. Additionally, being a part of Kami’s lookout means that he must have some level of knowledge or experience with the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, which is sort of the ultimate way togain heightened levels of power in a quick mannerwithin this universe.

Uub
Uub is a character that feelsloaded with unrealized potential. For starters, he’s created after the defeat of Majin Buu and is even supposed to have the power of the pink pulverizer. However, it seems that despite Goku training him, Uub has fallen to the wayside a bit within the universe of Dragon Ball. There’s a lot more that could be done here. For example, what if Uub had to deal with a penchant for destructive behavior? What if, any time that he began to power up immensely, he lost control over himself- much like Goku used to do back in the earlier days of the series when he and other Saiyans would transform into Great Apes?
This also begs the greater question of howtraining Uub could help Gokuconnect more to his Saiyan roots. In an attempt to help Uub master his immense level of power, he and Goku could go on an adventure with Vegeta back to meet surviving members of the Saiyan race. Most of what the audience knows of Goku is from what he’s learned while trying to save the Earth, but the show has never really had him come to terms with the more traditional aspects of his culture before they were enslaved by Frieza. By connecting this common thread between Goku learning about his ancestors' past as well as Uub learning to control his overwhelming powers there could be a lot of interesting character growth between the two.

Hercule
Hercule is a fraud, but he’s one of the greatest fraudsto have ever been included in any series ever made. Part of this has to do with his uncanny ability to be in the wrong place at the right time. He ends up getting credit for many of Goku’s heroics, and the world genuinely believes that he is as strong and skilled of a fighter as he says that he is. Some of the most interesting moments in the series have resulted from Hercule, such as his interactions with Majin Buu in which he determines that the alien creature actually has a kind nature.
The world has yet to see what would happen if Hercule really was the world’s last hope. Goku has to leave Earth eventually, and it stands to reason thatthere’s a scenario in which the rest of his friends are gone with him. If only Hercule was left, and an invading race of aliens had heard of his prowess from across the galaxy, this could lead for a unique storyline for the series as well as one that could potentially be quite humorous as he scrambles to save the planet while being severely underpowered.
