Lemnis Gateis a turn based sci-fi FPS that focuses on disrupting timelines and halting an opponent’s progress through clever positioning. Debuting in August of last year, it isunlike most FPS gamesin many ways.
Lemnis Gatetook the stage briefly during the PC showcase of E3 this year, showing off before a much larger crowd than its previous trailers reached. The trailer didn’t show many new details, but it did come with a couple new and important pieces of information. One of these new tidbits concerned the game’s story, and the other concerned its release date.

According to the trailer, the battles in the game are the end result of an incident that rendered most of humankind sterile. The only way out of the situation is by using time manipulation technology, most importantly something called the Lemnis Gate. This is what both players are fighting over: the ability to activate their Lemnis Gate. In addition, the official release date for the game dropped as August 3 of this year. Players don’t have to wait to drop money though, as pre-purchase is also live as of E3. There is a discount on the game until it officially releases, and the fullLemnis Gaterelease will be on both next-gen consolesand PC.
The gameplay ofLemnis Gateconsists of two to four players in either 1v1 or 2v2 matches battling for control of a sphere that they must return to the Gate at their base. As previously emphasized by the creator,Lemnis Gatecontrol and strategy are key. Each player has 25 seconds to take their turn, then they send in a new character. Meanwhile, old characters replay their turn on a loop. So player one goes in, grabs the ball, brings it home. Then on player two’s turn, they stop player one, grab the ball, run home. player one’s next turn, they counterplay player two, and so on for five rounds.
At its heart,Lemnis Gateis a strategy game between two players, a sort of FPS chess match where they must anticipate their opponent’s moves. Further adding tothe feel and style ofLemnis Gateis the fact that each character has unique abilities that can interweave to change and disrupt strategies in creative ways.
With an official release date and pre-purchase availability (complete with discount and bonuses for pre-order),Lemnis Gatedefinitely deserves a watch. It’s difficult to even think of other games on the market right now that are similar, withLoop Hero’s unique tower defense gameplaypossibly being closest thing. Of course, beyond the time loop concept, the two games are very different, soLemnis Gateshould remain on players' radar.
Lemnis Gatereleases for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One on August 3.
