With theUnchartedfilm on its way to theaters soon, Tom Holland, who stars in the film as protagonist Nathan Drake, has begun interviews as part of the film’s press cycle, and pokes fun at the numerous video game adaptations that have come and gone, and ones that he would like to take part in. Films based on video games have garnered a reputation for not being that great, with franchises likeAssassin’s CreedandHitmanbecoming moviesthat are perceived as less than stellar compared to the series the films are adapting.
While series likePokémonandSonic the Hedgehoghave seen a successful transition to film, most people have looked toUnchartedto truly break the video game movie curse. The production has gone through a number of iterations over the years, with filmmakers such as David O. Russell, Dan Trachtenberg, and Travis Knight all slated to be working on the film at some point in development. However, withVenom’s Ruben Fleisher in the directors chair and Tom Holland as Nathan Drake alongside Mark Wahlberg as Victor Sullivan, the film is finally on its way for its February release.

While doing his press tour for the film, Tom Holland spoke with ScreenRant about the process of makingUncharted, and the other video games he played while on set. One of the games he played being Mediatonic’sFall Guys, which has plenty of celebrity fans includingHolland’s MCU co-star Brie Larson. When ScreenRant joked about a possibleFall Guysmovie, Holland remarked “Yeah, me and Chris Pratt.”
Pratt, another fellow MCU co-star of Holland, is currently set to reprise his role as Star-Lord inGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3with director James Gunn at the helm. Pratt is also recently cast inIllumination’sMariofilm as the title character, alongside Charlie Day as Luigi and Ana Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, in addition to slew of other big name actors rounding out the cast like Jack Black, Keegan-Michael Key and Seth Rogen.
While the prospect of Holland and Pratt starring in aFall Guysmovie is a tad outlandish, it would not be the first time the two shared the screen together, as they both starred in theDisney/Pixar filmOnward. Plus, with how versatile of a titleFall Guysis, there’s no saying a film adaptation couldn’t work with the right script.
With several video games movies, it’s no secret how difficult they are to create, withdirectors likeFree Guy’s Shawn Levy, who was also in contention to direct Holland inUncharted, mentioning how hard the process truly is. That being said, perhaps there may be hope to see Holland throwaway joke about aFall Guysmovie happening in the future.
