Twitchis one of the world’s largest streaming platforms, and its star streamers can garner incredible levels of notoriety. However, to keep their audience’s eyes on them, streamers often end up doing strange or impressive things. Recently,Twitchstreamer Emiru went so far as to call a Riot Games developer after dying in aLeague of Legendsmatch.
League of Legendsis well known for its diverse array of Champions, with new Champions constantly being added to the game. However, not all Champions are created equal, and some are legendary for how difficult they can be to use effectively–or how frustrating they are to play against. Onerecently-added Champion is Viego, the Ruined King, a character who’s become notorious for being hard to learn and harder to play against.

In a recent stream, OTK star and famousTwitch streamer Emily ‘Emiru’ Schunkwas playingLeague of Legendsas Jhin when she ran afoul of a Viego player. Partly through the game, the undead jungler darted out of the bottom side tribush, stunned Emiru, and then one-shotted her. Emiru was so upset by the encounter that she declared she was calling August, by which she meant Lead Champion Developer August Browning–creator of Viego. Surprisingly, she proceeded to follow through on her threat and called up Browning to complain about Viego live on stream. The sequence begins at 04:06:24 in the video below.
Emiru put the phone call on speaker, and it was soon picked up by the developer in question. Browning replied to Emiru’s opening greeting in a friendly manner, but she then demanded to know why he made it possible forViego to kill Jhin from full health. She reported that after she ulted as Jhin, Viego still managed to just walk up and send her right back to the fountain. Browning met her complaints with a playful anecdote statement declaring that he deliberately designed Viego to irritate her personally.
According to Browning, whenhe was working on Viego, he realized that Emiru might end up playing against the character at some point. Browning decided that he wanted Emiru to “have a bad time” playing against the Ruined King and made Viego to specifically counter Jhin. This is interesting, as Browning also designed the character of Jhin. He would have an incredible amount of insight on how to craft a Champion that would be Jhin’s worst nightmare. When Emiru complained that Browning and Riot Games had ruinedLeague of Legendsfor her, Browning just laughed maniacally and stated that AD Carry players sometimes had to be “put in their place.” Despite this setback, it’s unlikely that Emiru is done playingLeague of Legends.
League of Legendsis available for PC.
