Ubisoft has recently released its fiscal report for 2019-2020, and it includes a rather interesting detail.Ubisofthas confirmed that it will be releasing one unannounced AAA game in the 2020-2021 fiscal year, joining four that have already been announced.
Ubisoft’s slate for the 2020-2021 fiscal year includesAssassin’s Creed Valhalla,Gods and Monsters,Rainbow Six Quarantine, andWatch Dogs Legion. No details on the fifth game have been confirmed at the time of this writing, but there are some distinct possibilities.

Ubisoft referes to the game as a “yet to be announced franchise,” indicating that it’s a sequel in an existing series and not a new IP. As it stands, there are a handful of Ubisoft franchises that currently have no new games announced. This includesFar Cry,Prince of Persia,Rayman, andSplinter Cell, so it could be a new game in any one of those franchises. Leakers have said that a newPrince of Persiagame is in development at Ubisoft, possibly aremake ofThe Sands of Time, and so that seems like one of the most likely possibilities.
We can’t rule out the possibility that Ubisoft is referring to a game that has been previously revealed, but just hasn’t been announced for the 2020-2021 fiscal year. If so, that would apply to games like the long-awaited andoft-delayedBeyond Good & Evil 2, as well as the pirate gameSkull & Bones. Otherwise, it would indicate that fans won’t be seeing either of those games until late 2021 or 2022 at the earliest, so anyone looking forward to either of those may want to brace themselves for an especially long wait.
On the bright side, more information on Ubisoft’s mysterious fifth AAA game should come sooner rather than later. Ubisoft has announced a special digital games showcase that it will be hosting in place of its usual E3 press conference calledUbisoft Forward. Ubisoft Forward will take place on July 12 at 12pm PT, and it’s sure to include in-depth looks at the already-announced Ubisoft games, as well as some surprises. Ubisoft usually reveals at least one or two new games at E3, so it stands to reason that new titles will be announced at Ubisoft Forward.
