Even though this is the seventh theatrically releasedTMNTfilm,Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhemputs a new twist on the origin story. How the Turtles came into their mutated selves is relatively the same, but the overall plot shifts away from the standard of Shredder trying to take over the world. Instead, two competing villains want to use the mutagen formula to wreak havoc on society.

Shredder is nowhere to be seen in the main film. There is the TCRI organization along with Superfly and his fellow mutants. Can the Turtles stop both? That’s the general setup behindTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, but there is so much more to discuss.

WARNING! Spoilers ahead!

6Is Baxter Still Alive?

The origins of the Turtles are a bit different compared to the otherTMNTmedia out there. The movie begins with Baxter Stockman lovingly attending to Superfly, his siblings, and his ooze formula. The TCRI organization busts through the door to steal his formula but in the kerfuffle, the house explodes. The aftermath is never shown meaning that Baxter could still be alive.

It’s the general consensus of movie fans now that if acharacter dies off-screen, there is a chance they are still alive. Baxter is a prominent character in the lore of this universe, so it wouldn’t really make sense to kill him off anyway. It would make more sense to bring him back as a brainwashed villain to fight his children courtesy of TCRI.

5The Shredder

The ultimate teaser in the mid-credits scene has Cynthia Utrom utter the line, “Bring me the Shredder.” The scene then cuts to Shredder from behind, looking onto New York City. It was inevitable that Shredder was going to show up eventually as he is the primary antagonist inmostTMNTmedia. That isn’t true in the comics as he is dealt with pretty quickly which is a whole other avenue to run down.

SinceTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhemplayed with fan expectations, who the Shredder will be in the sequel could be someone familiar. It could be someone fans saw in the movie already, or it could be someone mentioned off-screen. More importantly, if Shredder is coming into the sequel then is he inviting his ninja-based Foot Clan as well? The more ninjas, the better.

4TCRI’s Goal

What does TCRI want with Baxter and his ooze? While the organization is present in the movie, their desires are left as a mystery. The main plot focuses on Superfly’s plans to kill every human and rule the world with other mutant animals. Is that what TCRI wants as well or is there something more to their plans?

Maybe they are being contracted by a shady government to create hybrid humanoids for war. Maybe that idea is too small for them and they instead want to look beyond Earth. Do they know about Dimension X from theTMNTlore? Is that why they want an army of mutants? This could take the sequel into a multidimensional adventure similar toSpider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

3Did Anyone Get Mutated In The Kaiju Battle?

One of the coolest things inTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhemwasthe kaiju finale. It was unexpected, epic, and filled with a lot of emotions. ATMNTmovie has never done this before and while a mech battle would have been cooler, the scene was still exciting. While the turtles were able to defeat this monstrosity, that doesn’t mean Superfly’s actions are going to go away.

In his destructive wake, Superfly spewed out toxic goo from his mouth. If a human or animal got hit with that then they could have mutated. That’s another avenue to sequel could get into. It would truly be a shock if no one got mutated from this event.

2Will Casey Jones Join The Fight?

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhemdid something that no otherTMNTmovie has done before: include a plethora of weird antagonist villains. From Wingnut to Leatherhead, there is a good amount of villains in this movie. The Turtles are alone in their fight against these villains until they decide to shift sides and stop Superfly with the Turtles. Will some of these villains fight in the sequel or are they going to have a more peaceful role?

Also, if the mutants are out then the Turtles need some other allies who can fight too. Casey Jones would be the obvious pick and the Turtles could meet him in school. A zanier pick would be Miyamoto Usagi, a rabbit who is also a samurai. He has never been in a theatrical movie before and now seems like the time.Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revengehas upcoming DLC featuring Usagi after all.

1Will The Turtles Be Okay In School?

All the Turtles want in the movie is to be accepted. More so than anything else they want to specifically live their lives as teenagers which is why they try to dress like them, eat like them, and even watch their content. From Tik Tok videosto teenage filmslikeFerris Bueller’s Day Off, the goal is obvious.Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhemends with the four of them getting their wish and it seems like an ideal setup.

They are all accepted into the school system and even have their first prom. Is everything going to be okay in the sequel though? Will the human teens eventually start to pick on the Turtles for being different? It seems like a decent plot because after all, as the classic My Chemical Romance song declares, “Teenagers scare the living sh*t out of me.”
