ProfessionalFortniteplayer Sin has been accused of making racist remarks after a video has surfaced on Twitter revealing the streamer’s use of racial slurs. As a prolificFortniteEsports player, Sin has come under fire on social media for the leaked video’s contents, subsequently resulting in his Twitter account being deleted.
The alleged comments made by Sin while recording a collection of firearms include offensive and potentially triggering dialogue directed at people of color, stating “Just in case there’s ever a zombie apocalypse, or a n***** outbreak, we got the armory n****.” This video is particularly alarming afterthe recent Buffalo shootingwhich was racially motivated towards POC community members, and connected to the surge of online hate speech in recent years.

The original video was posted by a Twitter user named Sin3278Racist on May 22, and received over 1000 combined retweets before being taken down. Sin responded to seemingly confirm that the video is of him and refused to apologize for it, making assertions like “I never threatened anyone or said I’m gonna do anything.” Further tweets of Sin stating “i am racist and proud” have been screenshotted and shared throughout theFortnitecommunity, with members asking Epic Games to ban Sin for these inflammatory comments.
Sin recently qualified for theFortniteChapter 3 Season 2 Grand Finalsin North America, but is likely to be disqualified as a result of the hateful remarks being made. This is devastating from a gameplay perspective as both semi-final winners are likely to be removed from attending the Grand Finals, but Sin’s former duo partner Acro has publicly taken a stand against him. Sergio Brack, the Director of Esports at the University of Maryland, has also stated on Twitter that racism is not to be tolerated in gaming communities.
The studio has currently given no comment with regard to Sin’s leaked video, meaning it is unclear whether any further action will be taken against Sin.Many popularFortnite streamershave criticized Sin’s comments, along with Sin’s partner Acro choosing to disassociate from him.
