Summary
WhileWayfinderis first and foremost a co-op open-world game, it can still be a ton of fun to explore the world of Evermore and its many mysteries without any companions. This is actually beneficial for a few reasons, including the fact that it allows players to venture at their own pace, and acquire a whole lot more EXP from killing enemies which can be ideal when trying to build up a new Wayfinder to ensure they’re fully prepared for the mid to late game challenges.

Still, some characters will fare much better as a solo act than others, especially since a few of the Wayfinders will have abilities specifically tailored toward assisting their teammates, which won’t be very useful in a solo game. Some characters also have much greater stats than others that can help them survive against the hordes of monsters and beasts that can surround the player very easily when they’re just beginning their adventure.
6Venomess
Abilities:
Venomess is a character whose entire playstyle revolves around whittling down enemy health bars before they’re weak enough for her allies to finish off with a single blow. Because of this, she isn’t very viable when traveling by herself, and without her abilities being able to slow down enemy movement like Silo can, it means she can get surrounded pretty easily if her shots aren’t precise enough.
Luckily, her Venom Thrusters grant her a quick getaway to escape from danger whenever things get a little too close for comfort, but her kit is still unfortunately very limited when it comes to solo games. Because her Nightshade rifle will automaticallypoison enemies upon impact, it can be a good strategy to fire a few poison rounds, and then let the damage do the rest while aiming at a new target.

5Niss
The “shadow dancer” Niss is a Wayfinder who needs others around her to be at her most powerful, but that isn’t to say she can’t still hold her own when playing solo. Because all the enemy’s attention is going to be directed towards her though, it does mean that players will need to be very careful not to waste her abilities since she heavily relies on all of them to keep her alive.

The key to succeeding with Niss is to practice herdodging techniques. Each time Niss executes a successful dodge, she will gain extra attack power for a few seconds thanks to her passive buff, so frequently switching between Shadow Step and Vengeful Shade is advised when going toe-to-toe with single enemies. When it comes to groups of enemies and bosses, Niss' low defense does make her a vulnerable target, so it’s best to save her devastating Gloom Shroud ability for these types of scenarios.
4Kyros
When it comes to sheer offensive power, no Wayfinder in the game is more terrifying than Kyros, the war-mageof the game. All of his abilities are dedicated to tearing apart enemies with his magic and Epitaph rake, and when acquiring Arcane Fragments from enemies, makes his techniques even stronger, especially Savage Rake which he can use to violently slash monsters at no extra cost.
The drawback to all this offensive power is a very low defense stat which can very easily spell his demise in battle if players aren’t seeking out Arcane Fragments and using their abilities enough. This is why it’s important to use his abilities in conjunction with one another, reducing cooldowns with Siphon Radiant before then wiping out all foes who stand in Kyros' way with Arcane Focus and the immensely powerful Hand of Reckoning.

3Wingrave
Despite being a mix between a tankand a medic, Wingrave can hold his own extremely well and can get by just fine without any allies around him. A major reason for this is that all of his abilities, despite the fact that they are designed to support others in the team, can also benefit Wingrave by either healing or protecting him.

His Righteous Strike is an incredible offensive technique that can be thrown out extremely quickly and has such a massive radius that it can easily catch multiple enemies within the swing. Additionally, Wingrave also has the highest defense stat in the entire game, so even if things do get a little hairy, he can easily shrug off a few attacks before even needing to heal. When running Wingrave solo, it can be a good idea to equip a more destructive weapon such as the Colossus greatsword, which will help break down enemy defenses with ease, but it’s never a bad idea to experiment with other loadouts too.
2Silo
While Silo excels at picking off his enemies from a safe distance, his bombs still give him the option to prevent enemies from getting close to him. Because every single one of his abilities is designed to escape from or slow down foes, it doesn’t matter if one or two are on cooldown, simply fire away and evade attacks whenever necessary.
His passive, Strategic Advantage, grants Silo a melee and ranged damage buff toward enemies that are buffed, which makes both his bombs and the EGG extremely powerful to both regular enemies and bosses. Many players have found that Silo works well when wielding some daggers since all he needs to do is slow down enemies before then rushing in to finish them off. While this is a fun way to play him, the Longshot rifle that Silo starts with allows him to see hidden weak spots which he can target from afar, so he’s incredibly versatile and well-equipped for a solo venture.

1Senja
Ironically, Senja performs so well on her own when her whole character revolves around showboating to her adoring fans. Senja can easily tear her enemies limb from limb thanks to her devastating set of abilities, but what makes her especially powerful is her showboating, which charges up her abilities while also making her nearly invulnerable to damage.
The key to using Senja effectively is mixing all of her abilities at the right time so that she can deal as much damage as possible without needing to wait long for a cooldown to finish. In terms of weapons, she already starts with theimmensely powerful Colossuswhich can buff the strength of her abilities, but really any two-handed weapon or even daggers will work well on her. Senja can be tricky to get the hang of, but so long as players get into a good rhythm of powering up each of her abilities one after the other, they will be virtually unstoppable, even when playing alone.

Wayfinderis currently available for early access on PC and PlayStation 5. A full release for Xbox Series S and X, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and 5, and PC is set for late 2023.
