Friday Night Funkin’is a 2D rhythm game on indie game website Newgrounds. It was developed by four Newgrounds users and has been fully funded, withKickstarter donations far exceeding the developers' original goal. The game has the player help a character known as Boyfriend, who must engage in a number of challenging rap battles to secure the heart of his love, Girlfriend. Tragically, Girlfriend’s parents do not approve of Boyfriend, so Boyfriend must fight for Girlfriend through the power of music.

But things get crazier. Turns out, Girlfriend and her parents are actually demons. Oh, and there are monsters and evil spirits in this world, too. And there’s a kawaii dating-sim character, a glitching spirit, and quirky twins. So far, there are ten characters in the game, with two more announced and on the way. So which character inFriday Night Funkin’best represents each Zodiac sign, and why?
12Boyfriend: Aquarius
There are many things players should know before starting the game, but perhaps the most important fact is that Boyfriend sings for Girlfriend’s heart and will do whatever it takes. Boyfriend is edgy and surprisingly strong, able to hold Girlfriend up with one hand.
Boyfriend’s real name is a mystery and it seems like he wants it to stay that way. He is also queer and likely bisexual or pansexual, as it’s been confirmed that Pico is Boyfriend’s ex-boyfriend. Boyfriend’s rebellious nature makes him most like the fearless and independent sign, Aquarius.
11Girlfriend: Pisces
Girlfriend is well-dressed and loves music. In some ofthe best aesthetic Friday Night Funkin' mods, Girlfriend sports a range of different hairstyles and outfits. When she isn’t listening to others sing, she likes olives on her pizza and enjoys playing Tetris. The developer and creator of the game, who goes byninjamuffin99,has told fansthat girlfriend isn’t the smartest character out of the bunch. And while she appears innocent and cute, Girlfriend is also a demon.
If boyfriend makes a lot of mistakes, Girlfriend is prone to crying easily. This shows that she’s sensitive, compassionate, and cares about Boyfriend. For these reasons, Girlfriend is most like the sign of Pisces, a water sign that is compassionate but also prone to feelings of sadness or playing the victim.
10Pico: Aries
Pico is Boyfriend’s determined ex-boyfriend. Pico appears in the game as a boy with a vengeance and a bone to pick with Boyfriend, who’s since moved on. While Tankman refers to Pico as a “sexually ambiguous, angry little friend,” Pico’s character is more than that. In fact, Daddy Dearest hired Pico to kill Boyfriend. Pico thought he could go through with it, but changed his mind and instead challenged Boyfriend to a rap battle instead.

While he seems like a villain at first, Pico ends up becoming a hero in his own way, as he helps Boyfriend and Girlfriend later on. Like Aries, Pico is courageous and passionate, but also easily angered. He’s energetic and impulsive.
9Cassette Girl: Taurus
Not much is currently known about Cassette Girl, as she’s an upcoming character set to joinFriday Night Funkin’in the future. She is in some mods already but has yet to join the official game. There isso much content for this game, and Cassette Girl is a sign that more is coming soon. She appears down-to-earth. She has long, black hair, big eyes and wears a dark purple and black outfit.
In true Taurus fashion, Cassette Girl’s attire is most comfortable and practical for a rap battle. She has a hat to protect her face from the sun and play music, a comfortable hoodie, shorts ideal for athletic activity and sneakers for hitting the basketball courts or winning a rap battle. The only problem is, she doesn’t seem to want to tie her shoelaces. Maybe it’s a stubborn Taurus thing.
8Skid and Pump: Gemini
Skid and Pump are two characters combined into one. They appear inthe original game in Week Two. Skid is 8 years old and Pump is 7. They share a microphone and do everything together. They are often referred to as “kids” and like wearing costumes so much that they keep their Halloween costumes on year-round.
One likes to dress as a skeleton while the other dresses like a pumpkin. They’re a bit reckless and naive, mostly due to their young age. Due to their twin nature and personalities, Skid and Pump are most like the sign of Gemini.
7Senpai: Cancer
Senpai is rendered inFriday Night Funkin’in a 32-bit style. He was designed to appear as an attractive male character from a dating-sim game. He comes across as romantic for most of the game. Initially, he was supposed to have heterochromia, but this was lost in the rush of production and did not make it into the game.

Senpai is not human but is actually an AI who had Spirit trapped inside him. Senpai’s innocent appearance and soft-hearted nature makes him most like the water sign Cancer. Cancers are known for their empathetic nature and well as their gentleness and sentimentality.
6Mommy Mearest: Leo
Mommy Mearest is married to Daddy Dearest and is the mother of Girlfriend. Mommy Mearest is a glamorous demon who enjoys the finer things in life. She wears a stylish black blazer, a red minidress, tall black boots and lots of gold jewelry.
She’s comfortable with her figure and likes fashionable clothing. Mommy also has long, claw-like red nails and wears red lipstick. Mommy Mearest’s extroverted energy and luxurious fashion sense makes her most like the sign of Leo.
5Tankman: Virgo
Tankman is a character who will always tell it like it is. He’s blunt, grounded and to the point. He’s a soldier who takes everything in life seriously, especially his rap battle. Tankman comes from theTankmenseries, which is a 2006 dystopian animated web series from Newgrounds.
Tankman has been hardened by life and is dedicated to his work. For him, work is survival, and there’s no time to play games or have fun. Like a Virgo, Tankman is hardworking, practical and focused on achieving his goals.
4Spirit: Libra
While there aremany different charactersinFriday Night Funkin', Spirit is one of the most memorable due to his glitching appearance and the violent way he enters the game.
Like an air sign, Spirit has the ability to evolve quickly. He is a spirit looking for a body and is looking to take Boyfriend’s in a rap battle. Like a Libra, Spirit believes in fairness, holds grudges and feels uncomfortable being alone.
3Daddy Dearest: Scorpio
Daddy Dearest is protective of his family. He’s also a demon who owns a gun. In one of the wildestfunny Friday Night Funkin' mods, Daddy Dearest actually has a gunfight with boyfriend during their rap battle. In the original game and many of the mods, Daddy Dearest wears a snazzy black suit and a villainous expression.
He only wants the best for his daughter, Girlfriend, so has high standards and expectations for Boyfriend. Apparently, he’s also a former rockstar. Daddy is most like Scorpio, being passionate, controlling and mysterious.
