World of Warcraftfans are divided about the ending of Aberrus,Dragonflight’ssecond raid. While some players enjoyed it, others thought the encounter was missing something, especially when compared to other raids inWorld of Warcraft.

Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible–the second raid inWorld of Warcraft: Dragonflight–recently opened its gates, allowing players to pursue the rogue Scalecommander Sarkareth as they contend with the twisted experiments of Neltharion. The newWorld of Warcraftraid has already been beaten on Mythic difficulty, revealing all of its secrets to the community.

However, some fans aren’t fully satisfied with the ending of Aberrus. After Sarkareth’s defeat, a short cutscene shows the defeated Dracthyr soliloquizing as Wrathion and Sabellian contemplate his words. While moving in its own right, some players couldn’t help but notice that it was a regular cutscene, rather than a higher-fidelity cinematic. Most other raids inWorld of Warcrafthad them–including theVault of the Incarnates raid fromDragonflight–leaving players feeling a little disappointed in the Sarkareth cutscene, even if there was nothing wrong with it on its own.

Additionally, Sarkareth’s defeat in Mythic Aberrus confirmed there were no secrets to be found on the challenging difficulty. Historically, many of the mostmemorable final raid encounters inWorld of Warcrafthistoryhave had special, Mythic-only secret phases or bosses, such as the Demon Within during the Gul’dan encounter fromLegionor the Jailer’s last stand fromShadowlands. Unfortunately, Sarkareth had no such surprises hidden away on Mythic difficulty.

Many players also think Sarkareth himself was a strange choice for a final boss. While he played an important role in the story as a foil to Emberthal and the Black Dragonflight brothers, facing him as the final boss instead of other Aberrus bosses like the Zaqali Elder Rashok or the Echo of Neltharion, or theWorld of Warcraftfan-favorite Primal Incarnate Fyrakk, left many players scratching their heads. Nevertheless, players have enjoyed the actual fight against Sarkareth, and though the encounter is chaotic, those who have reached him enjoyed the battle.

Luckily,World of Warcraftplayers who were disappointed in the ending of Aberrus won’t have to wait long to experience new challenges.Blizzard recently revealed Patch 10.1.5,Fractures in Time, which adds the new Dawn of the Infinite mega-dungeon. This Mythic-only instance features almost as many bosses as Aberrus. Players will face down famous heroes fromWarcrafthistory, Infinite-corrupted versions of Keeper Tyr and Chromie, and the Primal Incarnate Iridikron in the shadow of Galakrond’s corpse. There is no release date on this content update yet, but players can expect the lore-heavy mega-dungeon to hitWorld of Warcraftin a couple of months.
