World of Warcraftplayers have been creating fan art projects for as long as the venerable MMORPG has been on the market. OneWorld of Warcraftfan has added to the long list with a wonderful rendition of Mulgore in the style ofOverwatchusing the Unreal Engine.

Reddit user, artist, andWoWfan Todtodson created the scene using the Unreal Engine. ThoughOverwatchitself is run on a Blizzard-made proprietary engine, Todtodson was able to capture its unique style with the Unreal Engine all the same.

The half-minute trailer itself features a panorama of Mulgore, the ancestral home of the minotaur-like Tauren people. It begins on a beautiful totem before panning over to view theTauren’s capital city of Thunder Bluff, located on a distant plateau through the mist. With expertly-rendered shadows and motion in the trees, one can practically hear birdsong and the sound of wind rustling through the leaves, despite the fact that the trailer is set to classicWorld of Warcraftmusic.

Todtodson has made plenty of other pieces of art, from depictions of real-life scenes to original creations. From cartoon graffiti and mascots to a collapsed bridge and Swedish UFOs, the 3D modeler has posted tons of art across Reddit. They even previously rendered aWorld of Warcraft-inspired cottagelast year using Blender, an open-source 3D modeling, animating, and rendering program.

World of Warcraftfan art projectswill never cease to amaze fans, and Todtodson’s work is no exception. BothOverwatchandWoWhave distinct styles, so fans of both games loved seeing the latter remade in the former’s style. Many wondered if Todtodson’s video is what aWorld of Warcraft 2could look like, if Blizzard were to ever make a sequel to the MMO.

Interestingly enough, such a thing is more possible now than ever before. With Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard, the future of the company and its games could take a brighter turn–a welcome change from the muddy reputation it has suffered from recently thanks to allegations of sexual misconduct and discrimination. What’s more,Blizzard has stated big things are coming to theWarcraftfranchise soon, including a mobile game, and a former Blizzard developer thinks it could meanWarcraft 4or a different single-playerWarcraftgame could be in its future. Though nothing but speculation exists for now, Todtodson’s vision of Mulgore can give fans an idea for what that possibility could look like, if it ever happens.
