World of WarcraftandCall of Dutypublisher Activision Blizzard has been looking to get back on its feet in the last few months. After the COVID pandemic that rocked the gaming industry, and harassment allegations that resulted in a lawsuit against the company, now it is hoping to rebuild a relationship between itself, its employees and its fans. After what many termed a quiet 2021, especially whereWarcraftcontent was concerned,Blizzard is now unveiling a roadmap for the franchise’s future.

Blizzard Head Mike Ybarra recently revealed that there would be somenew additions coming to theWarcraftfranchise. While many thought that this would include expansions forWorld of WarcraftandHearthstone, something Ybarra hinted at that took many by surprise was the development of aWarcraftmobile game. Considering Blizzard’s previous attempt at a mobile title,Diablo: Immortaldid not go down well with fans of the franchise, many were immediately anxious about the idea of aWarcraftmobile game.

Soon fans will be able to see for themselves whataWarcraftmobile title will look like, as among Blizzard’s roadmap forWarcraftreleases there is a reveal date for the upcoming mobile title. So far, May 2022 is the only known date for the reveal ofWarcraftmobile. Other upcoming reveals, like the nextWorld of WarcraftandHearthstoneexpansions are slated for April 19 and March 15 respectively. The nextWorld of Warcraftexpansion is highly anticipated by fans, as the “Shadowlands” expansion winds down.

TheWarcraftmobile game is currently shrouded in mystery, with next to no details being released on the game. Some believe it could be an extension to the already existingWorld of Warcraftcompanion app, while others believe it could be a mobile port of an existingWarcrafttitle. Considering thepoor reception ofWarcraft 3’sremaster, this may be an opportunity for Blizzard to fix past mistakes.

It seems unlikely that fans will be getting aWorld of Warcraftmobile port, as the game requires too many buttons to be played viably on a mobile device. However, only time will tell what theWarcraftmobile experience will look like. Even with Blizzard’s reputation of poorly received mobile titles, it seems fans are looking forwards to seeing what the company will come up with this time. There’s also theHearthstoneandWorld of Warcraftexpansions to keep fans waiting until the mobile game is unveiled in May.
