However, it seems likeWorld of Warcraftis removing one functionality of these game services soon. According to a recent announcement,World of Warcraftis discontinuing the ability to transfer a character to a different Battle.net account via the Paid Character Transfer service. Fans can still make these transfers now, but will be unable to do so as of July 23, along withthe pre-expansion update forWorld of Warcraft: The War Within.

This aspect of the Paid Character Transfer service is relatively obscure. The service itself will still function as it did before for players moving between realms, and for those who have multipleWorld of Warcraftaccounts on a single Battle.net account – this change only affects the small number of people who have more than one Battle.net account. However, if fans have more than one account, and need to move characters between them, they should be sure to use thisWorld of Warcraftgame service before it is retired.
Interestingly enough, this isn’t the only change to game services ahead of the launch ofThe War Within.World of Warcraftis also temporarily disabling the free character restoration featureduringThe War Withinpre-patch to give the Warbands system room to breathe, though it plans to restore it a few weeks later. On the other hand, the paid Guild Realm and Faction Transfer services are being retired on July 22, a day before the Pre-Patch. Like the Battle.net account character transfer, these services have become largely obsolete, leading to their removal in an effort forWorld of Warcraftto tidy up its in-game store to prepare for the next era ofWoWinThe War Within.
