Over its long history,World of Warcrafthas seen many features implemented into the game, some of which have stood the test of time. Some have been around for so long they’ve fallen to the wayside, and newer players may find themselves stumbling across them. One of those features is Void Storage, and many players are unsure of its purpose. If you want to know what this strange storage option is for, here’s all you need to know.
What Is Void Storage?
Void Storage is a paid storage option inWorld of Warcraftintroduced inCataclysmpatch 4.2. Unlike a normal bank, it costs 100 gold to unlock, and players can deposit 9 items simultaneously, each costing 10 gold. Void Storage has a 160-item capacity. You can store any Soulbound, non-stackable items in Void Storage, includinglegendary armorand weapons past-tier sets, seasonal items, and more. Depositing equipment into Void Storage will strip it of all enchantments, gems, creators, and all its other bells and whistles.
Void Storage was originally meant to solve an issue surrounding bloated bags and banks. Back in theCataclysmdays ofWorld of Warcraft, when Transmogrification was introduced, players needed to keep items they wanted access to when transmogging their gear. This meant players could have whole banks filled with items they no longer used but wanted to keep the appearance. Void Storage was meant to solve that problem, allowing players more space for their banks and bags while still keeping their appearances and mementos.

Is Void Storage Worth It in World of Warcraft?
Void Storage has lost much of its luster in recent years, mainly due to the implementation of the Appearances tab inLegionpatch 7.0.3. This tab binds all appearances you unlock to your account when you get an item. This means you no longer need Void Storage to keep your appearances, and the feature has since become more of a relic from the game’s past.
However, some players still use Void Storage to keep some of theirfavorite cosmetics, items, armor, and weapons they have earned as a way to remember past adventures or keep items they worked hard to get and do not want to see disappear. There are currently no plans or changes coming to Void Storage that would make it more relevant to the current state ofWorld of Warcraft. With that, the feature is quietly sat to the side, waiting for a potential future revamp or to fade away into obscurity.
