The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomplayers have found a thoughtful Easter egg crossing over fromThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’sChampions' BalladDLC. WhileBreath of the Wildis beloved among Wii U and Switch gamers, fewer players went on to play the game’sChampions' BalladDLC. For those that did play the DLC, Nintendo has decided to reward players by carrying over something special intoThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

In theChampions' BalladDLC,The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wildplayers are given a more in-depth exploration of four of the game’s important characters. Revali, Mipha, Daruk, and Urbosa make up four-fifths of the Champions of Hyrule, with Link being the fifth. While the group was formed totake on Calamity Ganon in their Divine Beasts, they ultimately lost their lives before seeing it through.Champions' Balladoffers further insight into their choices to become Champions, leaving the player that much more endeared to them.

At theend of theChampions' BalladDLC, Link experiences one final memory of the Champions in which tech lab director Purah takes a photo of the group. Link is then given this photo, which has been kept safe since. It’s this photo that appears to have made a return inThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. However, it won’t be available to everyone.

At the end ofChampions' Ballad, Link is able to place the photograph he received on the wall of his home. It stays there permanently after being placed. While thehouse no longer belongs to Link inTears of the Kingdom, it still features the memorable photograph. More specifically, it will feature the photograph if players completed theChampions' BalladDLC and still have the save file data on their Nintendo Switch.

It’s worth noting that the Easter egg is solely for those who have save file data forChampions' Ballad. Players who do not have save data for theBreath of the WildDLC will have a blank wall where the photograph is supposed to be. It’s a special Easter egg for dedicatedBreath of the Wildplayers.Tears of the Kingdomcompletionists will have to go back and complete the DLC.

This isn’t intended to be a challenge toTears of the Kingdomplayers to go back and playBreath of the Wild’s DLC, though. It’s just a special way of celebrating those that did play and completedChampions' Ballad. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomis a celebrationof so much of whatBreath of the Wilddid, after all. A small prize forChampions' Balladplayers is the least Nintendo could do.
