Making food is an essential part of playingThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Players need to prepare Link for any eventuality, whether facing a particularly strong foe in combat, using a hefty amount of Stamina, or sneaking up on enemies. However, one boost that often gets overlooked is Speed. Hasty meals put Link on super fast mode by increasing his movement speed, which can be a lifesaver for players when farming items or climbing high rock faces.
While players can make Elixirs using critters likeHot-Footed FrogandHightail LizardinTears of the Kingdom, numerous meals increase Link’s speed anywhere from 4 to 30 minutes with a variety of ingredients. These recipes include special materials that are surprisingly easy to get.

Updated July 19, 2025, by Sophie McEvoy:WhileThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomdoesn’t add many new ingredients, the ability to boost Link’s abilities is still as much of a priority in this game as it was in its predecessor. Players can make various meals with some ingredients at hand, but Link is also crafty at making elixirs which are produced by cooking a critter and a monster part. In terms of speed, there are only two creatures that will grant this effect: Hot-Footed Frogs and Hightail Lizards. But thankfully, they are easy to come by. And there’s another recipe up Link’s sleeve too, which involves some Wild Fried Greens to boost his speed and hearts.
10Hasty Wild Fried Greens
Cooking up some Hasty Wild Fried Greens can give Link a mid-level speed boost when using fiveSwift Carrot. This meal also dishes out six hearts, more than he’ll get from using fiveSwift Violet, which give no health boost but will provide the same amount of speed for five minutes.
For even more hearts (in addition to the boost), players can mix aSwift Carrotor aSwift VioletwithHyrule Herb. The speed boost from this meal will only last three minutes, though.

9Hasty Elixir (Hot-Footed Frog)
Combining aHot-Footed Frogwith four monster parts will provide a speed boost for a little over seven minutes. But if players use fourLynel Gutsas their ingredients, they will create a low-levelHasty Elixirthat lasts for just over 13 minutes. However, if players increase the number ofHot-Footed Frogto four and only add oneLynel Guts, it will change to a high-level elixir.
While it doesn’t make much difference, if players want to sell something valuable, the low-levelHasty Elixircan be sold for 2,250 rupees compared to the 590 rupees of the high-level one. It all depends on what Link has in his inventory at a given time, and more likely than not, it will be manyHot-Footed Frogand not a lot ofLynel Guts.

8Hasty Elixir (Hightail Lizard)
Hightail Lizardare commonly found all over Hyrule and are an easy critter to catch to make aHasty Elixir. Combining this creature with any monster part will do, and will typically produce an elixir with a seven-minute boost. But once again,Lynel Gutsare the preferred option, particularly if players want something they can sell. Like theHot-Footed Frogrecipe, it sells for 2,250 rupees.
If players have made a habit of killing Lynels on the surface and in the Depths, they may be able to source a fair amount of guts to mix in with these elixirs. However, it’s worth remembering thatLynel Gutsare also needed to fully upgrade theSoldier’s ArmorSet and the Radiant Armor Set, so players may not want to use them all on elixirs.

7Hasty Simmered Fruit
HastySimmered Fruitis easy to make, consisting of Fleet-Lotus Seeds. However, if players are after an extra duration boost, all they need to do is add a dash of Monster Extract to increase Link’s Speed for half an hour. This mixture is perfect for traversal over a long period of time or through flat areas of Hyrule like the Gerudo Desert.

Fleet-Lotus Seedsare found in water. They are common around the Lanayru region in places like Zora’s Domain and the Lanayru Wetlands, in addition to shallow ponds throughout Hyrule. Vials ofMonster Extractcan either be purchased from Fyson in Tarrey Town or as a reward from Kilton for completing the“A Monstrous Collection”side adventure.
6Hasty Mushroom Skewer
Any skewer can work in a pinch for Link, and with an added boost, they’re even more valuable. HastyMushroom Skewercan be made by cooking justRushroom, butby adding aDragon Horn, players can boost the initial duration up to 30 minutes. Horns can be farmed from any four of the dragons flying the skies of Hyrule: Naydra, Farosh, Dinraal, or the Light Dragon.
Rushroomcan be found very early on while exploring the Great Sky Island, and on the surface, they grow on cliff faces around Hyrule. As for the Dragon Horns, they’re relatively easy to get so long as players have enough Stamina and the right outfits/elixirs/meals to help in each circumstance. All players need to do is locate them, get enough height, and skydive onto their head. Then it’s a matter of shooting the horn, which should fall and land on their head while Link still rides the dragon.

5Hasty Steamed Meat
If players have some Raw Prime Meat on hand, they can combine it witha bunch of Swift Violetsto make a Hasty meal that will provide 4 and a half minutes of Speed. This meal is great to use in combat, as the time won’t be wasted.

While this recipe only restores three hearts, the focus is obviously on the Speed aspect. And the main ingredient is easy to find, as Swift Violets often appear alongsideRushroomon cliff faces in Gerudo Canyon, the Cliffs of Ruvara in the Gerudo Highlands, and the icy Hebra Mountain Region.Raw Prime Meatis primarily obtained through hunting medium-sized animals inTears of the Kingdom, which includes wolves, deer, and boar, but can also be sourced from larger animals like bears and moose.
4Hasty Mushroom Rice Balls
Hylian Ricecan be used to make an abundance of things, including HastyMushroom Rice Balls. OneHylian Ricecombined with fourRushroomwill provide a 5-minutes Speed boost for Link, perfect for climbing and combat. It’s a simple meal to make and requires minimal ingredients. Not only that, but itrestores a hefty amount of hearts.
Hylian Ricecan be bought from most merchants throughout Hyrule or harvested in the wild. Toharvest Hylian Rice, players need to find areas with long grass and cut them with a sword. The drop rate forHylian Riceis pretty random, but if players find a wetland area or shallow pond with long grass, Hylian Rice is more likely to drop there.

3Hasty Meat & Mushroom Skewer
Meat skewers are a lifesaver inTears of the Kingdom, providing Link with the right amount of hearts in any situation. Add fourRushroomto the mix, and players will be blessed with the same Speed as the HastySteamed Meatrecipe while replenishing 7 hearts.
RushroomandRaw Prime Meatare easy to source in the early game, so long as players get into the habit of picking up everything they see and not selling everything immediately. Nevertheless, it’s always a good port of call to have at least ten of anything just in case it’s needed for a meal, side quest, or to enhance armor.

2Hasty Steamed Fish
Tossing someSwift Carrotand anAncient Arowanainto a pot will create a HastySteamed Fishdish that boosts Speed for 4 and a half minutes, in addition to restoring a plentiful amount of hearts. Of course, players could substitute theAncient Arowanafor aHyrule Bass, but using any other fish would cancel out the Speed-boosting effect.

Swift Carrotcan be purchased in Kakariko Village at High Spirits Produce after completing the“Codgers’ Quarrel”side quest, and can also be bought from the traveling merchant Parga and East Wind in Hateno Village.
1Hasty Veggie Rice Balls
Swift Carrotcan be combined withHylian Riceto create HastyVeggie Rice Balls, creating a surprisingly substantial meal. The recipe provides the same amount of hearts as meat would in this instance, giving Link 6 hearts. As for the Speed boost, Hasty Veggie Rice Balls lasts for 5 minutes.
WhileSwift Carrotcan be purchased from merchants around Hyrule, these veggies can also be found in the wild. One place Link will find some is the east side of Satori Mountain on Hyrule Ridge. However, they are pretty a rare vegetable, so if players come across them, they should pick them up.
