A player trying to transport logs for the Lurelin Village Restoration Project mission inTheLegend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomcame up with an ingenious trick to make the otherwise tedious mission much easier. This is yet another in a long line of ways players are using the new abilities featured inTears of the Kingdomto circumvent the game’s challenges.
Lurelin is a small oceanside village down on the southeastern coast of Hyrule. Upon completing the “Ruffian-Infested Village” Side Adventure by saving the town from a large group of difficult enemies, a village resident named Bolson will ask Link if he can help get Lurelin back in shape, thus activating the “Lurelin Restoration Project” Side Adventure. But he’s going to need a lot of materials, including exactly 15 logs. How the player gets the logs is up to them. The palm trees in the village are of no use, so Link must venture a little further out to find pine trees with thick, sturdy trunks to chop down and take back to the village. The problem is, that’s an enormous pain. That isunless Link works smarter, not harder.

A Reddit user who goes by the name twolf201 posted a video in theTears of the Kingdomsubreddit showing off the clever trick they used to quickly and efficiently deliver 15 logs in one shot with minimal effort. After finding a collection of appropriate trees on a nearby mountain, twolf201 chopped down the 15 trunks needed to satisfy the mission requirements. Then,using Link’s versatile Ultrahand ability, twolf201 attached the logs together into a giant wheel. They used Ultrahand one more time to set the wheel at the edge of the hill then let go and stood back as they watched the wheel roll all the way down the mountain to Lurelin Village below.
There was one moment when the wheel of logs perhaps needed a little encouragement. At one point in the video, the wheel can be seen getting toppled over by a shrine in its path. But that’s nothinga little Ultrahand couldn’t get back on track. The wheel made it down on its own as Link glided above the mountain with the supplies necessary to revive the ailing village.
Whether the game’s challenges involve solving puzzles or overcoming the odds in a difficult fight,Tears of the Kingdomprovides a toolbox so they can figure out a clever workaround that the developers themselves may not have necessarily intended. Whether it’s a giant wheel of logs rolling down a mountainor a killer mech made of scrap, possibilities inTears of the Kingdomare only limited by the player’s imagination.
