Developer Fntastic started off 2021 by pulling the curtain back on an ambitious new MMO calledThe Day Before, which has been described asThe DivisionmeetsThe Last of Us. Hype forThe Day Beforehas been pretty high, as it offers a unique MMO concept in a genre dominated by high fantasy games. Since its announcement,The Day Beforewas only ever confirmed to be in development for PC, but now the developers have revealed that the game is also coming to next-generation consoles.
Alongside some newDay Beforegameplay footage, Fntastic confirmed that the game is coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X in addition to the previously revealed PC version. It was also confirmed in the same video thatThe Day BeforePC release date is July 30, 2025, though it’s unclear exactly when the zombie MMO will be making its way to the PS5 and Xbox Series X. So while the game is no longer a PC exclusive, PC gamers still get first dibs.

The Day Beforereveal trailergenerated quite a bit of buzz, and so it naturally led to the developers being asked about a possible console version. Fntastic said months ago that aDay Beforeconsole version was being considered, but the developer never committed to making one until now. More details on what exactly the console versions of the game will entail should come to light in the months ahead, and it will definitely be interesting to see exactly how long those on PS5 and Xbox have to wait to get their hands on it.
So far, news updates onThe Day Beforehave been relatively slow. Before the new gameplay footage was released, not much was shown ofThe Day Beforesince April, at which point a different gameplay trailer was dropped. A month before that, the developers released some footage focusing onThe Day Before’s vehicles and off-road driving, which is something else that should help it stand apart compared to other MMOs.
The Day Beforeconsole versionwasn’t the only thing announced by Fntastic recently. An asymmetric multiplayer horror game calledPropnightwas also revealed.Propnight’s proper release date is coming next month, but the game is currently available to play in beta. For those wondering what it’s like, it seems to be a marriage ofgameplay concepts found inDead by DaylightandProp Hunt, which could make for an interesting combination, to say the least.
